Porsche Design Shake Pen Twist Black 2012

Shaken, not stirred
In January, 2011, Porsche Design introduced the popular P‘3140 Shake Pen, one of the most successful writing instruments from the luxury brand. The Shake Pen Twist Silver ballpoint was introduced in October, 2011, boasting an elegantly milled solid aluminium barrel with matt-chromed front and end piece. A small ridge at the top end of the ballpoint prevents it from rolling away on sloping surfaces. The Shake Pens have a unique method for advancing the refill: shaking the pen by moving your wrist with a brief sweeping motion catapults the cartridge out of the barrel by a small weight in the end piece, making it ready for writing. Repeating the movement drops the cartridge back into its barrel.
Porsche Design is releasing a new matte black model in October, 2012. Following is the official press release from Porsche Design:
Porsche Design gives the world's fastest ballpoint pen P’3140 a new matt-black look. The barrel is made out of massive aluminium and precisely milled into the twisted shape. Front and end part as well as the barrel are covered with a matt black PVD coating which mainly consists of tiny Titanium parts. There- fore this coating is long-lasting and scratch-resistant. The new Porsche Design P‘3140 Shake Pen Twist Black will be available in shops for 150 Euro.
The P’3140 Shake Pen Twist Black combines extraordinary form and purist colour- ing with an innovative shake mechanism, making it the world's fastest ballpoint pen. With a quick and easy flick of the wrist the writing tool is ready to write in a split second. The black, M width tip is retracted likewise with a rapid flick of the wrist. A projection on the end cap prevents the pen from rolling away. In addition the Shake Pen is also characterised by its compact size: With a length of only elev- en centimetres it fits into any pocket, making it the perfect travelling companion.
Porsche Design is a luxury brand with a particular focus on technically inspired products. The brand was founded in 1972 by Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, whose products have stood for functional, timeless and purist design ever since. The products are designed in the Porsche Design Studio in Zell am See, Austria and sold around the world in the company’s own stores, shop-in-shops, high end de- partment stores, exclusive specialist retailers as well as the official online shop.
The launch is planned for October 2012.
